"Customer Research Inferno"

Commentary

I used to work at a telesurveying company: Customer Research International. The main survey was an all-encompassing consumer survey that took about twenty minutes to complete, if you were lucky. But there were political polls often, and since guys are harder to get on the phone for surveys, sometimes we were asked to "concentrate on males".

So this piece was inspired by that experience, and is what I like to call a non-tribute to a former employer. After about a year, I got fired for failing to consistently meet quota. The day I got fired was especially lame because I rode my bike nearly a mile during a thunderstorm just to make it to work on time. It wasn't that far, but I arrived completely drenched, just in time to be "let go".
