"Dairy Heirloom"

Commentary

The majority of the time, I apply titles to my artwork after they are complete. Every now and then, I come up with the title first and then work towards illustrating that title, which is how this drawing came to be.

One night during a punstorming session, the word derriere (buttocks) kept popping into my head for some reason. After sifting through several different word combinations, I arrived at derriere-loom. Dairy heirloom.

I thought if there were ever to be an heirloom of all things dairy, it would probably have to be an udder, and I imagined this archetypal udder floating in space-time, the sacred blueprint of all other udders.

Adding a pair of butt cheeks to both sides of the udder, brought the derriere aspect into play. In order to point out they are in fact, butts, I drew in little fart clouds. For wherever there is a buttocks, there is usually a fart cloud nearby.
