"Hallucinape"

Commentary

In the winter of 2001, my art style took a quantum leap, becoming more refined and complex than the work of previous years. Hallucinape was one of the first pieces I produced during this period of newfound complexity. The title was an afterthought, a play on the word hallucinate...because I'm punny like that.

With this piece, I was channeling my subconscious in order to vent frustration, anxiety, and angst; feelings stimulated by my state of virtual homelessness at the time. Hallucinape is about several things rolled up into one; communication, aggressive behavior, intellectual regression, altered states of consciousness, etc.
