"Pentagonal Satellite"

Commentary

The first of the satellite series. This is also one of the oldest pieces in my catalog that I still exhibit.

Initially, I made this with markers and pen on foam-core board, and it was one of the pieces in my first art exhibit. I was selling the piece for $30, but ended up taking $15 and a photo print from the photographer who wanted it.

Eventually, the acidity of the foam board, combined with prolonged exposure to sunlight caused the piece to fade greatly. Hearing of this, I touched the piece up and returned it.

In order to combat fading, I made another version of this piece with acrylic on masonite to ensure better fade resistance.
